Can't say I'm surprised. He never really seemed to take this seriously enough to put forth the effort. I really wanted to vote for him. Now I have NO idea who to vote for. Thanks a lot, Fred...

Over the past few days, it's become an extremely popular liberal talking point that Fred Thompson supposedly lobbied for a pro-choice group back in the early 90s, contrary to his claim that he has always been 100% pro-life. As several websites have rushed in to point out, this claim is hearsay and cannot be proven, though fortunately for the Democrats, it would be equally difficult to disprove. It's a game of he-said-she-said.What matters is twofold. First of all, every vote Fred Thompson has ever made in the senate, and ever statement he's ever made on the subject, have supported his claim of being 100% pro-life - enough so that Planned Parenthood labeled him an "enemy". Secondly, it's no secret that Democrats and liberal newspapers have been digging and digging (largely unsuccessfully) for any speck of dirt in Fred Thompson's past, in the hopes of killing his momentum. (And really, is this a surprise? They would do the same for any candidate they were afraid of.)So, in the end, it's up to you to judge whether Fred is telling the truth, or whether those conspiring against him are. I just think that, if Fred's supporters are as rational of people as I believe them to be, this won't really hurt him too much. Here's a much more detailed analysis of the topic:http://newsbusters.org/node/13944
If any of you have surveyed GOP straw polls online, you've probably noticed the now notorious trend of Ron Paul supporters spamming these polls to try to make his base seem bigger than it really is. (An amusing incident in this regard was on the May 20 Pajamas Media poll, in which Paul was removed for having less than 0.5% support nationwide, even though he had earned 38.4% in the poll they ran the previous week.)Anyway, Frank J. over at IMAO seems to have blown the cover on the Fred Thompson "fan site", fredthompsonforum.com, as actually being a front for Paul's base, designed to lure serious Fred supporters into their camp.I hate this sort of thing. Even if Fred wasn't the target... this reflects extremely poorly on Paul in my opinion.
